You know that idea you’ve had in your heart for a while now? The business you want to start, the creative project you daydream about? It lingers. You think about it when you’re alone. You talk about it in safe spaces. You picture it, maybe even plan it but still, you hesitate. Because before your dream even takes its first breath, the overthinking begins.
What if I fail? What if they don’t take me seriously?
Am I even ready? Do I know enough? What will people say?
This cycle is real and it’s exhausting. Especially when you come from a background where survival has always been the priority, and risk is seen as a luxury. In many of our homes and communities, ambition is welcomed but only if it fits within a narrow definition of safety, stability, and silence. We’re taught to be careful, not bold. To be grateful, not demanding. To follow the path, not create a new one.
So when you dare to dream especially as a woman, especially with a migration background it’s no wonder overthinking feels like your second language. But here’s the truth: overthinking doesn’t mean you’re weak or incapable. It means you care deeply. It means you’re wired to be responsible, to make thoughtful choices, to consider those around you.
Still caring too much about what could go wrong can keep you from discovering what could go right. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a flawless plan, a perfect product, or a polished pitch. You just need to begin. One step. One sentence. One move. Because the only difference between a dreamer and a doer is action not confidence, not perfection, not background. Just that first, imperfect, brave move.
Start small, but start. Create a name. Share an idea. Write it down. Send the email. Tell someone you trust. Every big leap begins with a tiny, shaky step. And if you’re scared that’s normal. Most women we work with at #SheDIDIT felt the same. But they kept going. And so can you. You don’t have to do it alone. Find a community that gets it, like #SheDIDIT. Talk to women who have been there. Let their stories remind you that your fear isn’t a stop sign, it’s just a sign that you’re stepping into something new.
So to the hesitant dreamer reading this: this is your permission slip. No more waiting. No more overthinking. This is the season where you stop shrinking and start owning it. You’re not alone. You’ve got this.
Let’s talk: What’s one thing you’ve been overthinking that you’re finally ready to act on? Drop it in the comments, share it with us or tag a fellow dreamer who needs this reminder or just send an email to me iman@shedidit.be.
